Synopsis and more information
During a storm, the victorious General Otello returns home to his young wife Desdemona, with whom he is madly in love. There he finds himself caught in a wicked conspiracy hatched by Ensign Iago, who is prepared to do anything to destroy him. Iago takes advantage of his close relationship with Otello to make him believe what everyone else already believes: that it is impossible for such a lady to have fallen in love with someone like him. Iago provides false evidence of Desdemona's guilt, fuelling Otello's anger. Consumed by jealousy, he publicly
repudiates his wife and strangles her in their bed. When he discovers the truth, Otello stabs himself to death.
